One-minute Tutorial to test Mentafy's assignment workflow

Table of Contents

Create assignment

Set up a new mock assignment
Give it a mock title like "Homework Biology"
You could copy the invite link and share with students, but for the test you will use the invite link for yourself to participate in the assignment.

Student view

After following the invite link, in the (fake) student view you create the writing project. No need to enter anything, just go with the defaults for now.
On the project status page find the main document and open it by clicking the name.
MS Word online editor opens the document; please copy and paste a paragraph (from a newspaper or Wikipedia)
Back in the status page overview, after some seconds, the wordcount increases and the newly pasted text will come up as unclassified source
You have two options now, categorize within Mentafy, or in the Word document. Here we go with the latter option. So we go back to the Word document and add a footnote at then end of the paragraph indicating where the text came from.
After processing, Mentafy will recognize this as a citation and update the classification.

Submitting

To close the project and submit the document we go to the project status overview and click on submit assignment and confirm that you want to finish.
Confirm to close the project for the student.
Now the project is closed for the student. We go back to the teacher view now!

Assessment

Find the assignment title and click on the name for assignment participants
The participant list will show one submission: your own project and document. It will also show the percentage of unusual text and the "cleaned" percentage (lowered by categorized content, e.g. citations)
