RESEARCh recorder - road to integrity
Documentation of YOUR Research Activity
Collect your materials, notes, and ideas as you work. We create a trustworthy report of how you did your research as proof of your academic effort.
Mentafy’s Research Recorder documents research activity in the background: which materials you collected, when you engaged with them, and how you annotated them. Students keep using their usual tools and cloud storage – Mentafy simply creates a tamper-resistant research timeline that feeds into the Writing Journal and Authorship Report.
Why Your Research Process Matters
- Research becomes visible
See not only the final paper, but also what research helped to write it: searches, selections, and notes over time. - Stronger trust in personal contribution
Supervisors see that you actively researched and engaged with materials instead of compiling everything at the end. - Solid basis for reflection
Concrete data from your research process helps you fill in the Writing Journal and explain your method if questions arise.
What the Research Recorder Does
Research materials log
Collect articles, web links, visuals, audio, data sets in one place. Citations of these can be seamlessly created.
Cross-platform sync
Use Mentafy in the browser, app, or with cloud spaces like OneDrive/Google Drive. Research activity is synchronized automatically.
Save from the browser
Mentafy's browser plugin takes a screenshot of what you are reading (incl. AI-Chats) and adds it as an entry straight into your Reading List, including URL and access date to cite it.
Value for Students and Educators
For Students
- Get an extra layer of protection: a documented research process supports your claim of honest work.
- The documented research including all your materials serves as a building block of the Writing Journal.
- Students see concrete progress over time – and stay motivated.
For Educators & Institutions
- Use the research timeline as additional context in grading and integrity reviews.
- Quickly assess research depth without reading every note.
- Pedagogical Intervention: Identify students who may be stuck (little to no research activity).
