How Mentafy Works?

Mentafy analyses the text changes during the writing process. When the work is submitted, it is then clear for each existing text section when it was included in the work and how it was revised.

No keylogging or similar total monitoring is necessary for this!

The results from our pilot are clear: The writing patterns of pupils and students reflect the development of their thoughts and texts and are clearly different from a chatbot, typing or copy & paste.

During the writing phase in Microsoft Word, Mentafy can document progress and support the students. After submitting the work, the submitted text and an authorship report are available to you.

Do I need to install anything to use Mentafy?

No installation is necessary! Mentafy is a web-based service that works seamlessly across all major platforms—Apple, Windows, Chrome OS, tablets, PCs, and laptops.

Which file types and cloud services does Mentafy support?

Mentafy currently supports:

  • Microsoft Word documents stored in OneDrive

  • Google Docs stored in Google Drive
    Support for additional cloud storage providers and file types is planned for 2025.

What kind of account do I need?

You only need a Microsoft or Google account to get started. It can be free, private, institutional, new, or existing — all types are supported.

Will I always need a Microsoft or Google account?

No, not necessarily. In addition to Microsoft and Google logins, you can also sign in with your email. We're actively working on integrating more services, so you'll have even greater flexibility and won't be limited to just Microsoft or Google in the future.

How does Mentafy organize my writing projects?

For each writing project, Mentafy creates a dedicated folder and document in your selected cloud storage (OneDrive or Google Drive). This helps keep everything tidy and in one place.

How do I edit my document with Mentafy?

Just use your preferred editor:

  • Microsoft Word (web or desktop) for OneDrive

  • Google Docs for Google Drive
    Make sure you're connected to the internet so autosave features keep your work synced to the cloud.

When should I start using Mentafy in my writing process?
